It’s so important to feel like you’re not alone during such a transformational time in your life. Postpartum support can help take the stress and pressure off of you having to know, do, and be all. It is also for the entire family (pets, siblings etc) and not just about the baby and parents. I couldn't agree more with them. I wish that I knew that postpartum doula's were a thing and I really wish I had known Liz and Maika while I was going through my postpartum journey with my two kiddos. So Lets meet Liz and Maika!
Liz Chandler
Postpartum Doula, Reiki Practitioner & Craniosacral Therapist
Liz is from Hannibal, Missouri but now resides in Virginia Beach due to her husband being active duty military. She has one daughter and is a former elementary school teacher who taught internationally in China and Armenia. Her favorite childhood movie was Free Willy and she can NOT live without sunshine. She is also the one who provides Reiki and Craniosacral Therapy.
Maika Schneider
Child Educator, Birth & Postpartum Doula
Maika is originally from Germany and moved to the Hampton Roads area when her husband was offered a position with his company here. She is a mother of two and she too is a former educator who taught 5th-12th grade politics and English as a second language in Germany. Now she educates expecting families because she is very passionate about educating the family about what to expect before, during, and after birth.
Birth Care Services
At Blissful Baby Steps, LLC , they offer Childbirth Education Classes, Birth & Postpartum Doula Services, Reiki, and Craniosacral Therapy.
Their Childbirth classes are offered throughout the year and they have three options; they offer a 8 week comprehensive course, weekend classes, and private classes. The childbirth classes provide you with all the information you need to be fully prepared for birth before, during, and after. You will receive hands on attention with someone who truly cares about your childbirth experience.
Their Birth & Postpartum doula services consists of an initial meeting with no obligations to answer any questions you may have regarding their services, then one or two prenatal meetings if you move forward, email and phone support from the date of hire, continuous labor support at home, hospital, or birthing center till baby is born, and one postpartum visit unless hired for extended postpartum care.
Their Reiki and Craniosacral therapy is done by Liz who provides nurturing touch that helps align the seven energetic focal points within the body, calms and soothes infants, and helps restore physical and emotional well being during pregnancy-to-birth-to-postpartum transition.
Postpartum Care Services
They believe that everyone deserves a little PIE after birth. They help take care of practical, informational, and emotional needs within your household. Postpartum doulas are also the first line of defense for parents facing any difficulties after birth. They are there to be a supportive piece in your parenthood journey, and their focus is on the family’s wellbeing as a whole. This could involve helping with laundry, the dishes, prepping meals/snacks for the whole family, or holding the newborn so that you can shower and eat with two hands.
I had the pleasure of witnessing their care first hand and I tell ya, EVERYONE could benefit from having a Liz and Maika! They really are an amazing team who will not only provide excellent service, they will become a part of your family while you need and want them!
